What the heck is a Rockhound?

A bit about me. (WIP)

I am an amateur collector who explores Central Oregon's high desert and forest landscapes in search of geological treasures. Yes, I am a Work in Progress.

This area around Prineville, is officially recognized as the Rockhound Capital of the World due to its immense variety of gemstones and minerals.

Camping

We spend time camping so we can enjoy hunting for rocks many days at a time.

Desert ATV Riding

Riding our ATVs gets us to unexplored areas that normal vehicles are unable to go.

Cabbing Stones

There is something magical about taking a rough chunk of Central Oregon earth and revealing the hidden beauty inside. We’ve got the CabKing set up and our safety gear ready—because while the dust can be a hazard, the results are spectacular. We are currently in the "learning the wheels" phase, mastering the art of the grind before we set our first stones in silver.

Grandkids

Grandkids help with some great finds. Look deeply at the rocks and you might find that unexpecte tidbit that only they saw.
